Reinhold Neiebur (1892-1971), was an internationally known writer,, teacher, lecturer. Graduating from Yale Divinity School, he became a minister known for being concerned with the poor. He later became the dean of the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Reinhold Niebur wrote The Serenity Prayer in 1934:
“God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.”
